Nice to meet you
My name is Michele, I am a qualified person-centred counsellor registered with the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and COSCA (Confederation of Scottish Counselling Associations) and adhere to their ethical framework of good practice. I undertake regular training and personal and professional development to help maintain my knowledge and skills.
I work in a person-centred way with adults, young people and children. I hold a Post-Graduate Diploma in Person-Centred Counselling and integrate other approaches into my work.
Before developing my private practice, I had over twenty-five years of experience working mainly for charities specialising across an extensive range of issues such as chronic illness and health conditions, loss, addictions, trauma, anxiety, depression, abuse, self-harm to relationship problems.
I am passionate about helping individuals find their potential, I have extensive knowledge and experience supporting and caring for them through challenging times. In addition to my work with adults, I am a highly experienced and qualified counsellor supporting children and young people, including in secondary schools, colleges and universities.
I recognise how important the therapeutic relationship is to help facilitate change for you and to create a space where you feel comfortable connecting with parts of yourself that don’t otherwise have space to be heard and seen. I consider therapy as a process of helping you listen to your gut feelings, find safety and containment, and feel more personal power amid difficulty. You are the expert of your experience, and you will feel truly heard. The experience of being listened to and supported on your journey is liberating and empowering.
Thank you for taking the time to read about what I offer. I look forward to collaborating with you.
